Delhi Mission observed Bangladesh’s Independence day

India was the closest partner of Bangladesh in Liberation war in 1971. Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi today observed the 41st Independence and National Day of Bangladesh in a befitting manner.

The Day carries special significance this year as the country is going to observe the 40th anniversary of independence.

The day’s programme began with the hoisting of the national flag at the chancery building.

Mr. Tariq A. Karim, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, hoisted the national flag when the national anthem was played.

The messages of the President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni were read out on
the occasion.

Prayers were offered for the peace, progress and development
of the country and the welfare of the people.

Prayers were also offered for eternal peace of the father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family
members who were assassinated on the fateful night of August 15,
1975.

The martyrs of the Liberation War were also remembered for
their supreme sacrifice on the occasion.
