Accusing the government of taking away the voting rights of the people, the BNP leader said that they would restore the voting rights of the people by ousting the Awami League government.
“There will be no fair elections as long as the Awami League is in power. Therefore, the Awami League government should step down and dissolve the Parliament to hand over power to a caretaker government so that the people can cast their vote under the new Election Commission.” They said.
Fakhrul said that the people will vote for their representatives and government through a credible election under a non-party administration. “That elected government will run the country.”
He said people are struggling to get by due to abnormally high prices of all essential commodities including rice, oil, salt and eggs.
The BNP leader alleged that people could no longer raise their voice against the government due to repressive acts. “Opposition leaders and activists are being arrested and sent to jail by being implicated in false cases and fabricated cases. They (the government) have turned the whole of Bangladesh into a prison.”
