Bangladesh made a clean sweep against New Zealand by winning the series 4-0. This the first time ever for Bangladesh to white wash any full pledged test playing country.
Winning the toss Bangladesh elected to bat first in the last ODI of the series. But Bangladesh only managed to score 174 runs before they become all out. Sakib scored highest 36 runs.
In that point almost everybody thought that New Zealand would win this match very easily. But Bangladeshi bowlers had different Idea. Rubel Hossain, who was given to bowl after 25th over in last match was given the new ball this match. He made the damage in KIWIs top order.
New Zealand lost their 5 top order batsmen within 20 run. Then Daniel Vetory and Elliot took the responsibility and Kiwis came back to the game. They made a partnership of 86 runs which almost took the game away from home team.
But Sakib Al Hasan made the all important breakthrough by picking up Vetory’s wicket. On the other side Grant Elliot was still patient to play his game. But he was also picked up while trying to play big shot against Shuvo.
30 runs were needed from last 30 balls. Kyle Mills was the only man to take the Kiwi’s home. He fought hard but could not save the game as he was bold by a nice yorker from Rubel Hossain.
Rubel Hossain was judged man of the match and Sakib Al Hasan was judged man of the series.
Daniel Vetory said at post match presentation ceremony, “A dreadful series, but Bangladesh and Shakib were outstanding. Batting has been symptomatic of our performances in the series, but we have enjoyed playing for this crowd. India are one of the best teams in the world, so hopefully we can regroup there.”
Winning captain Sakib said, “I think we played really well this series, our boys came hard at the New Zealand side and we had a really good series. The wicket wasn’t that great today and our batsmen didn’t get the big scores today but our bowlers did really well”.
