The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) expressed disappointment over the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. It seems that the regime is desperate to receive the third tranche from the IMF as part of its smooth loan arrangement, thereby easing the pressure on its continuously depleting dollar reserves and balance of payments. Given that the proposed budget is based on debt and deficit, it has no choice but to seek budgetary support from local banks and international donor agencies to meet its deficit, a press release said.
These remarks were made by speakers at a media briefing held at the AB Party's central office on Monday afternoon. Present at the briefing were, among others, Joint Convenor Professor Dr Abdul Wahab Minar, Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Monju, Joint Member Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad, AB Party Women Incharge Nasreen Sultana Mili.
