Innocent student arrested on suspicion as relatives were not informed: A case of abuse of power?

Then why was an innocent student considered a vagrant and arrested? In response to this question, acting in-charge of Lalbagh police station Khandaker Helal Uddin told Prothom Alo that Helal has been arrested on the basis of suspicion. Later, if the allegations were not proved, an appeal was made to acquit him of the case.

Not just Helal, at least 300 people were arrested in the capital between July 28 and November 7. Police allege that they are vagabonds, habitual criminals and involved in a conspiracy to commit a cognizable crime.

Prothom Alo has spoken to the lawyers of at least 50 arrested people. He said that the police have arrested his clients on suspicion without warrant, labeling them as vagrants, despite being associated with specific professions. In fact, even his family members were not informed after his arrest.
