He said, “Whenever the occupying (Israeli) army enters the camp, young people gather and throw stones at the army.”
Israel has occupied the West Bank since the 1967 Six-Day War.
Excluding East Jerusalem, the territory is home to about three million Palestinians and about 490,000 Israelis, who live in settlements considered illegal under international law.
Since the Jericho attack, the number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so far this year has risen to 216.
About 28 Israelis, one Ukrainian and one Italian have also been killed, according to an AFP report compiled from official sources on both sides.
These include, from the Palestinian side, fighters as well as civilians, and from the Israeli side, three members of the Arab minority.
