Asked about the progress in preparing the list of Razakars, Jamuka member Shajahan Khan told Prothom Alo on Monday, “I have received a list of 150 people. If the minister wants, he can publish it. But I feel that if the list is published in phases, there will be various criticisms, so I want to publish it after receiving the list from across the country.

In December 2019, the government released a preliminary list of 10,789 anti-independence figures, including Razakar, Al Badr, Al Shams Bahini. However, the government was eventually forced to withdraw the list due to several mistakes and discrepancies in it.

That list also included the names of some freedom fighters and martyrs in the liberation war. At the same time, names of many notorious Razakars were not in the list.

Later, the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs took the initiative to act on its own. For this, on August 9, 2020, the Parliamentary Standing Committee constituted a parliamentary subcommittee. The committee led by Shahjahan Khan could not meet regularly. Later, the parliamentary committee canceled the previous subcommittee in a meeting in April 2022 and formed a new subcommittee with Shazhan Khan as the convenor.

People associated with research on the liberation war say that after so many years of the country's independence, many obstacles will be created while preparing the list of Razakars.
