A total of 54,673 students are getting scholarships of Primary Terminal Examinations 2010 this year according to the scholarship list the government announced yesterday.
The scholarships have been given in two categories — talent pool and general — on the basis of highest numbers in the examinations held in November last year. Of the total, 21,993 students were awarded in talent pool while 332,680 in general category.
This year the number of scholarships is increased by 4,138. Last year, some 50,535 students — 19,995 in talent pool and 30,540 in general — got the scholarships.
Announcing the list at a press briefing at Bangladesh Secretariat, Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Ameen said the talent pool category provides Tk 200 monthly and Tk 150 yearly while the general scholarship provides Tk 150 monthly and Tk 150 yearly for the next three years.
A total of 17,91,651 students out of 19,40,331 class V students of general schools passed the terminal examinations of 2010.
