Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza, calls for end to illegal occupation

The Prime Minister has put forward a set of suggestions for women in Islam.

The suggestions are:

First, an immediate end to the conflict in Palestine, and justice for crimes against humanity, especially women and children;

Second, say ‘no’ to all crimes, violence, discrimination and growing Islamophobia targeted against women and girls;

Third, pay additional attention to achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls to meet SDG-5;

Fourth, ensure that Muslim women and girls have the choice to present themselves in public as they wish, and

Fifth, Bangladesh, as a shining example of women’s empowerment and their role in the mainstream, is ready to share our experience with other friendly Muslim states.

He said that OIC is a forum where talks on this much-awaited issue are welcome.

Realizing its potential in women empowerment, Bangladesh joined the Women’s Development Organization (WDO) of OIC long ago, he said.

While the WDO has just begun its journey, he said, “I hope that through a better understanding of Islam its mandate can be expanded to include the needs of today. Only then can we achieve an equitable, peaceful and We can dream of a prosperous world. I wish this international conference all success.” Sheikh Hasina praised the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the OIC for celebrating women in Islam at the international conference.

She said, “We eagerly follow the Kingdom’s unprecedented initiative for the liberation of women. I admire the transformative vision of His Majesty the King and His Majesty, the Crown Prince.”

Describing Islam as a religion of peace, harmony and humanity, he said that Bibi Khadija was the first woman to adopt Islam on the call of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Quoting Surah An-Nisa of the Holy Quran, he said: “And fear Allah by whom you interrogate one another and the wombs. Verily, Allah is ever watchful over you.”
