The prices of everyday essentials have increased in another phase before the holy month of Ramadan. Businessmen have identified four reasons behind this increase in prices of daily essential commodities – high price and dollar crisis, extortion, syndicates and high tariff rates.

Common traders involved in the business of daily essential commodities met on Wednesday to exchange views on 'Production, Import, Stock, Supply and Prices of Daily Essential Commodities during Ramzan' organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Said this in a meeting organized.

However, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam reminded traders about their own 'responsibilities' in curbing price rise. He said that at the end of the day it is said that businessmen earn additional profits.

Mahbubul thought that businessmen would have to change their mindset to earn extra profits and come out of the tendency to hoard.
