A railway official told Prothom Alo that two trains – Rangpur Express and Tangile Commuter – got stuck at Malibagh in the morning due to the workers’ protest programme. The operation of other trains was also disrupted.
Employees have been organizing programs for several months demanding their permanent employment.
He said the railway authorities had temporarily recruited around 7,500 employees through official circulars. They have already served in their respective positions for 12 to 14 years.
