World Cup cricket is just knocking at the door. World cup is going to be held in Bangladesh for the first time. So, this is a very special one for Bangladeshi People. We are going to play our part regarding upcoming world cup. We will discuss the probability of different teams in this big event. We are starting with first world cup champion West Indies.
West Indies achieved first 2 world cup and become runner up in third world cup. But after that, they could not make any good performance in World cup level. They reached to Semi final in 1996 world cup. It was their last success in World cup arena. West Indies team is lacking quality bowling attack now which was their main strength in 1970-1999. After the retirement of Walsh and Ambrose, West Indies bowling attack becomes sharp less. Their Batting is now more or less Chris Gayle dependent. He is really a devastating batsman undoubtedly. He can make the game on West Indian way in his day. But he lacks with inconsistency. After Chris Gayle, Dowane Bravo and Kieron Polard are two devastating batsmen too. But they can only manage to play some 50-60 type of innings. They are also not consistent. The only consistent batsman in West Indian Squad is Chandarpaul. But he is not that exclusive. He is not a big hitter. None of other batsmen are looking so much promising now to be compared with great batsmen.
West Indies fast bowlers are Darren Powell, Fidel Adwards, Rampaul. They are good bowlers but not aggressive enough to devastate good batting line up.
After thinking everything we can say, West Indies is coming to play world cup as an Under dog team. West Indies have to face India, South Africa, England, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands in first round.
My forecast: West Indies will win only 2 match in this world cup.
