Maldives’ Hitadoo seaports and Bangladesh’s Chittagong seaport is likely to be connected very soon. Maldives will import construction materials like cement, rod from Bangladesh. Maldives vice-president’s wife Ilham Hussain said this on her visit to Bangladesh on the occasion of international autism conference organized by Bangladesh’s prime minister’s daughter.
Cargo ships will ply between Hitadoo and Chittagong twice in a month. Bangladesh is too much dependent on its export to Europe and US. Trading between South Asian countries may reduce this dependence.
