Noting that BNP always wants to thwart elections, Abdur Razzaq said what the Awami League wants to say is that it is not possible to conduct elections by going beyond the country’s constitution. Elections are not held under an election-time government anywhere in the world, including India, Sri Lanka, Japan, the US and the UK. Therefore, Awami League has no option. The Agriculture Minister said he accepted that arrests are inevitable if the government wants to stop incidents like the attack on the Chief Justice’s residence, cutting of railway tracks and violent incidents in 2013 and 2014.
Abdur Razzaq said, “I have asked many times whether a BNP worker can set fire to a bus without orders from BNP leaders. Would anyone take such a risk? Are they not afraid of going to jail?”
