Apollo Creed Carl Weathers of ‘Rocky’ films dies at 76

“When he walked into that room and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness,” he said in a video posted to Instagram.

“I would never have accomplished what we did with ‘Rocky’ without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more importantly, his heart, his soul.” ‘Predator’ star Schwarzenegger called Weathers a “legend.”

He wrote, “An extraordinary athlete, a brilliant actor and a great human being. We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such an amazing time making it.”

Fellow ‘Predator’ actor and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura said the world has lost “an icon.” “Carl Weathers was a phenomenal talent, a true professional, and a dear friend,” he wrote on Twitter.

Sandler, who posted photos of the two men working together, called him a “great guy.” “Great dad. great actor. Great athlete. Always a lot of fun to be around. Very smart. Loyal as hell. So funny,” he wrote on social media.
