Awami League is making strategy to ensure voting

Awami League will also encourage its allies and Islamic parties to participate in the elections. It will generate funds and use its organizational strength as well as the support of various organs of government to ensure the highest possible turnout.

However, the Awami League leadership also realizes that the BNP and its allies may rise up to oppose the national elections. Accordingly, law enforcement has been given complete freedom to deal with this case. Many BNP leaders will be arrested and sentenced before the elections. And hence it will not be difficult to control the situation, Awami League leaders believe.

This strategy of the Awami League is evident from the reply given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in response to a question about inclusive elections during a press conference held at Gana Bhavan on August 30. The Prime Minister replied, “Whose involvement are you talking about? For me participation means participation of people. If people can vote, then whoever wins those votes will form the government.

The assessment within the Awami League regarding the elections is that they have been in power for 15 years and the new voters who have emerged in this period are not actually able to vote. That is why this section of the population has no interest in voting. It will not be easy to bring them to the polling stations. But every effort will be made.

Turnout has been poor in all elections since the ninth parliamentary election in 2018. Hardly any voters turned out for local government elections or even parliamentary by-elections. Additionally, candidates of the Awami League and its allies were elected unopposed on 153 seats in the 2014 elections. Awami League will try to prevent such an uncontested victory this time.

in 11th Despite all parties contesting the parliamentary elections in 2018, the Awami League and its allies won 90 percent of the seats. The party’s policy makers want to ensure that it is not repeated this time. That is why they will ensure the victory of their allies, Islamic parties and BNP turncoats.
