BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s sentence suspension is going to be extended by six more months

On 8 February 2018, the former prime minister was sent to Old Dhaka Central Jail after he was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by a special court in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.

He was later convicted in another corruption case.

The government released Khaleda Zia on certain conditions in an executive order on 25 March 2020.

The BNP chief has been living at her Gulshan residence since her release from jail. A special team of his personal physicians is monitoring his treatment.
