Natural calamity is one of the most common scenerio in Bangladesh. A lots of people get affected by different disasters. Most of the worse affected people are women and child. Because, men can easily go other place to survive from disasters. But, few affected women can do this. Now, there is some good news for the disaster affected women. A total of 25,900 disadvantaged women of the country will be given loan with only three percent service charge for improving their living standard.
Official sources said the government has taken a Taka 65.56 crore project to provide the loan facilities to different disadvantaged women including widows, divorcees and orphans.
Under the project, Taka 20,000 will given to each woman aged 18 to 40 who earns less than Taka 25,000 annually. Each of the women will get Taka 5,000 more for proper utilization of the loan.
The Ministry of LGRD and Cooperative has already sent a project proposal to the Planning Ministry. It is expected to be approved next month, the sources said.
The government will provide the total fund of the three-year project. The Department of the Cooperative in association with the National Women Cooperative Society will implement the project.
Registrar of Cooperative Department Mushfeka Islam told BSS that the government has taken the project as part of implementing the Vision-2021.
