Rajshahi University is the second university of Bangladesh (1st Dhaka University). It played
an important role in creating intellectuals for Bangladesh and also played important role in
political history form liberation war to movement for democracy.
Now its library has a rich collection of nearly 2,60,699 books, more than 35,508 journals,
audio-visual, microfilm and machine readable materials.
900 people can study in its three storied air conditioned building at a time.
Computerization pilot project is expected to introduce some new facilities.
Students and teachers both will be able to use these after computerization. University
authority will make PDF format of some rare books which can be downloaded from library
archive.
There will be a computerized catalog for books so that users can find books easily. However,
library will continue its old cataloging system. Teachers and masters students will get
unlimited internet facility. This library will be linked with the Bangladesh National
Scientific and Library Information Network, a pilot project by ministry of science and
technology.
