The government will buy 18 lakh metric tonnes of food grains in Boro season

The government has decided to procure 1.78 million metric tonnes (MT) of food grains during the upcoming Boro season in 2023 as a four-month internal food procurement operation begins next month.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) chaired by Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar at the Cabinet Conference Room in the Capital Secretariat.

Boro will procure 400,000 MT of paddy, 1.3 million MT of parboiled rice and the remaining 100,000 MT of wheat in the procurement season.
