They threatened the victims and beat up two youths who were with them. The accused then raped both the girls, first inside a local tea shop and then at the back side of a shop. After that, BCL leader Shakeel and his friend Mehedi held the victims hostage in a local primary school and raped them again.
The accused also snatched money from the victims and their friends. At one point, one of the two youths accompanying the victims fled the spot on a motorcycle and informed the police about the incident through the national emergency number, 999.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Fakirhat police station in-charge (OC) MD Ashraful Alam said the police rescued both the women after receiving a call from 999. Both the victims were medically examined at Khulna Medical College Hospital. A victim filed a case as a plaintiff accusing Shakeel and Mahedi.
