Bangladesh and Sri Lanka both team is suffering with lots of injury while the 1st ODI will be held on tomorrow. Bangladesh are missing their top stars like Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafee Mortaza, Nazmul Hossain and Shafiul Islam. So, the bowling department will have to face lot of difficulties in Sri Lanka tour. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is missing their one of the best Batsmen Mahela Jaywardane.
Nazmul twisted his kneee while avoiding a straight drive from Ziaur Rahman during a net session in Colombo, on what would have been the fifth day of the second Test.
“Nazmul’s injury has not responded to treatment and he has therefore been ruled out of the series against Sri Lanka,” Bangladesh physio Vibhav Singh said. “We have already consulted with two orthopaedic surgeons and they have said that they will need to assess him further.”
One of the players being discussed as Nazmul’s replacement is 17-year-old Taskin Ahmed, who was considered for the ODI squad. The selectors may opt to give the youngster the experience of training with the senior side. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim, coach Shane Jurgensen and on-tour selector Habibul Bashar will take a call on Nazmul’s replacement.
The Bangladesh side is already without Mashrafe Mortaza, (ankle injury) and Shafiul Islam (side strain), and the injury to Nazmul is a major blow after captain Mushfiqur Rahim stressed the importance of pace bowlers in Hambantota, where Bangladesh play the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
