Biman to start first hajj flight on Sept 29

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will start carrying hajj pilgrims from September 29 as the preparations for smooth hajj flight operation have already been completed, sources of the national flag carrier said today.

Biman is supposed to carry 36,220 hajj pilgrims to and from Jeddah by its two flights-one chartered wide-bodied jumbo jet and one DC-10 from own fleet- through 180 dedicated flights in two months.

The pre-hajj flights will be operated between September 29 and October 31, while the post-hajj flights will run between November 10 and December 10. Special arrangements have been made both in Dhaka and Jeddah for hajj flight operations.

A total of 108,000 hajj pilgrims are scheduled to perform hajj from Bangladesh this year and a number of airlines that  include Biman, Saudia, Emirates, Nas airlines would carry the passengers.
