On Wednesday evening, the Panchgar-bound Drithojan Express rammed into a Shohag Paribhan bus at the Malibagh rail-crossing, causing a shutdown of rail communication between Dhaka and the rest of the country.
According to eyewitnesses, the gateman forgot to close a gate at the Malibagh rail crossing, which led to the accident as the bus was already on the rail track. The train eventually hit the bus from behind. However, the train was running at a slow speed during the collision.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Railway Police Aminul Islam said no one was injured in the collision as there were no passengers in the bus at the time.
