Construction work of Growth center market

The construction work of Growth Center Market began at Jumarbarihat under Saghata upazila in the district on Monday amid much enthusiasm to the merchants and the locals.

Lawmaker Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah formally inaugurated the work by unveiling a plaque and laying the foundation stone.

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is implementing the work at a cost of Taka 54.96 lakh under Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project while a few number of donor organizations including GTZ, KFW and ADB is providing the fund for the work that will be completed by June next, office sources said.

Speaking at the function Advocate Fazley Rabbi said the government has given much priority and is sincerely working for overall development on various issues including infrastructural one of the neglected and backward rural areas to bring them under mainstream of development.

Describing a series of development works done by the government in his constituency in last 22 months, veteran parliamentarian said a total of Taka 107 crore has been allocated to save the Saghata upazila from the erosion of the Jamuna River permanently.

With Nazrul Islam in the chair, the function was also Addressed, among others, by executive engineer of LGED AKM Luthfur Rahman, president of upazila AL Siddiqur Rahman Putu and general secretary Abdul Hamid Sarker Babu.

A large number of people including upazila level officials, businessmen, local elite and the political leaders including the journalists attended the function.
