Police arrested both from Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday night. A case was registered regarding the incident, he was shown arrested, and sent to court.
Shahbag police station chief Noor Mohammad said that the duo had extorted Tk 1,500 from four people who came to the book fair from Chandpur, posing as police.
He then returned 600 taka to them so that they could return home, while keeping 900 taka for themselves.
When the police came to know about the incident, both were arrested on the spot.
