Islamic Foundation Bangladesh requests everyone not to spread any misleading news on Shawwal moon sighting and Eid ul Fitr date. Also requested people not to get confused by such reports.
The Islamic Foundation made the request through a news release on Thursday.
Some news media published the news of moon sighting on Wednesday citing information from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the release said. The news said that the moon of Shawwal would be sighted on Friday evening and Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Saturday. The news came to the notice of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Islamic Foundation and the National Moon Sighting Committee.
