Director couple Kamar Ahmed Simon and Sara Afreen is invited by Cinema Du Monde to join Cannes festival on next May. They are invited to Cannes for their next film project Shankhadhani.
The director couple will stay there from may 14 to May 24. Cinema Du Monde is a France based project which supports full-length movies of the world.
Kamar and Sara have won several prestigious awards for their maiden film Shunte Ki Pao (Do you hear). They won best film award at Paris Cinema du Reel 2013 and their film was also the curtain raiser of the German Dok-Leipzig festival 2012.
This film is made on the struggle of community near Sundarban which is the largest forest of Bangladesh. This community lost their homes and all belongings by a tidal surge. It was a real life story. But this story is repeated every time when cyclone hits that area and that is a cyclone prone area. People of that area are very poor any they hardly receive government help.
