There was much talk about whether BNP leader Ariful, who was elected mayor twice in a row, would contest the Sylhet Municipal Corporation elections.
The BNP decided to boycott the upcoming municipal elections in five cities as the elections are being held under the current government. However, speculations were rife that Ariful Haque may become an independent candidate considering his immense popularity.
Today’s announcement by Ariful Haque put an end to all the speculations.
