Momen has written a letter to the United Nations General Secretary demanding its constructive, cooperative role

This letter has been sent at a time when many Western countries and groups are repeatedly demanding free, fair and inclusive elections in Bangladesh. This call has also been reiterated in regular UN press briefings.

In his letter, the External Affairs Minister noted Bangladesh’s role in the United Nations and expressed the Government’s willingness to support the United Nations system whenever and wherever required.

“Bangladesh is a leader in upholding democracy, human rights, justice and human dignity. This is the only country in the world which lost the lives of 30 lakh people for the establishment of democracy, human rights and justice.” He said that despite all these facts, the government is facing pressure from various quarters.
