Mustafizur Rahman, distinguished fellow at the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), said the meeting discussed various aspects of the budget for the next financial year as well as ensuring further macroeconomic stability.
“We have said that considering the current state of the economy, it would be more convenient to implement the budget if the exchange rate and inflation can be controlled,” he said.
CPD Executive Director Fahmida Khatoon said the main focus of the next budget should be on ensuring macroeconomic stability rather than focusing more on growth.
“In this regard, there is a need to create more employment, increase investment in the private sector and increase FDI,” he said.
He also said that there is a need for uniformity between the policies and operations of the government.
