The State Bangladesh petroleum exploration and production company after 15 years has a new gas field is located in Sundulpur in Companyganj Upazila under Noakhali district finally discovered.
Bapex, a subsidiary of State oil, gas and mineral resources Corporation, Petrobangla, discovered in 1996 in Indian Saldanadi gas field.
The latest discovery was announced at a press conference on Wednesday Petrobangla the Chairman by monsur Hossain, Bapexs Manager Mortuza Ahmad Faruque and other high officials.
Monsur, said, however, that the engineers would monitor the pressure of gas and some other parameters for a few days.
He told reporters that gas started spewing pipeline research well on a five-meter thick layer at a depth of about 1,400 m at 8 am on Wednesday.
Although he said nothing about the amount of gas field reserve, hopefully monsur by March of next year Bapex 10-12 million cubic meters of gas per day and the next gas transmission network of the Maijdi in Noakhali can deliver.
“In the meantime Bapex a gas separator is set up, connect the pipeline and other infrastructure to build” he added.
Mortuza claimed that the gas produced from the newly discovered field would help to meet the demand Chittagong.
Monsur said that Bapex layers that are deeper than the newly-discovered layer would perform three-dimensional seismic surveys of the area to search for other potential gas-laden sand.
Bapex is a series of gas production wells in accordance with the report of the seismic survey drilling.
Bapex of the technician found gas in the other two layers in the depth of 3, 196-3, 220 m and 3, 118-3, 121 m in Sundulpur area, which is under hydrocarbon block-15 are.
The company has eight months to discover the fertile plain, after the start of drilling exploration in the Sundulpur. The project costs have been estimated, TK be 73.76 crore.
