Nobel laureate Dr Yunus expresses frustration over legal battles and detention in his later years

Dr Yunus, chairman of Grameen Telecom, has been charged in a case related to labour law violations by the Factories and Establishments Inspection Department.

On Thursday, the labor tribunal, led by its acting chairman MA Awal, extended the bail of Dr Yunus and three other accused and fixed July 4 for the next hearing of the case.

The three other accused are Grameen Telecom's former managing director Ashraful Hasan, Noorjahan Begum and its director Shahjahan.

Explaining the adverse effects of the case, Dr. Yunus said, “If I had not gotten into this difficult situation… this disaster, I could have done a lot more. Why is this happening? Am I losing? What do I have to lose? I did what I had to do.”
