Not entering Rafah means ‘losing the war’: Netanyahu

Israel faces growing calls, including from its closest ally the United States, to stop sending troops to the southern Gaza city, where about 1.4 million people have fled.

The army says it is working to evacuate civilians from the area to minimize casualties, but has not provided precise details of its evacuation plan.

Talks have been held in the Egyptian capital Cairo to try to stop the fighting, while aid agencies are concerned about food, water and medicine shortages in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu dismissed Hamas’s demands as “ridiculous”, saying that any agreement would be reached “only through direct negotiations between the parties without any preconditions”.
