Organizing programs in Ramzan by BNP leads to alienation: Obaidul Quader

Taking a dig at the key opposition, the AL general secretary said that they (BNP) can only increase the price. They protest just for the sake of protesting.

He announced that along with the government, the Awami League as a party would not organize any Iftar party as it had done in the previous Ramzan. Instead, AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed party leaders across the country to distribute iftar material and relief material.

Speaking about 233 local government elections, including Mymensingh and Cumilla city corporations, Quader said all elections across the country were peaceful. There was negative publicity about voter turnout in elections at home and abroad.

The Minister for Road Transport and Bridges said that after the parliamentary elections, the turnout in the local government elections was remarkable. The Election Commission said that voting was 60 percent.

He said that there is no basis for this negative publicity that people's interest in elections has reduced. Rather, people's interest in politics is increasing. Quader stressed that the voter turnout in local government elections proves this.
