Ahsan H Mansoor, executive director of research organisation Policy Research Institute (PRI), has warned that the economy should not be destroyed to save weak banks.

“The policy has to be maintained and we should not back down from it. Commercial banks, which themselves are responsible for the liquidity crisis, are being supplied with money. The Bangladesh Bank has to stop supplying money,” the economist suggested.

He made this remark while discussing the proposed budget for 2024-25 jointly organised by the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and PRI. Prime Minister's Advisor on Economic Affairs Mashiur Rahman was present as the chief guest.
