In order to reduce traffic gridlock in the capital city the government is going to construct a double-lane rapid bus route. the project is going to start early next year.
The new route is named as Bus Rpid Transit (BRT) and is of 45 km long. It has two segments stretching from Gazipur to Sadarghat. It will be of 6.5 metre wide, central to the existing road.
A feasibility study will be done in this month for Gazipur and Shahjalal InternationalAirport road(20km).
The existing roads will also be widened. The time taken to travel the proposed route will thus be less in this case which is currently time consuming.
The proposed route will carry 20,000 passengers per hour in one direction
