Restriction on formalin import

The Bangladesh government has imposed new restriction on formalin import. A circular is issued from the government, which says the formalin vendors must keep their selling record and government approval will be needed to import formalin.

Formalin is essential in some industries and it is also used in diagnostic centers and laboratories of educational institutes.
But misuse of formalin has been a great concern. Formalin is being used to preserve fruits, fishes, meat and even milk. Formalin may cause many health risk including skin problem and cancer.

Many consumers have noticed that their food items in their kitchen and refrigerator never rot. Malibag and Shantinagar kitchen market have been declared formalin free market. Formalin detection kit is supplied by FBCCI.
