According to the release, the webinar was divided into two plenary sessions highlighting the experiences, impacts and policy implications. The sessions were chaired by Zarina Nahar Kabir, Associate Professor, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society at Karolinska Institutet; and Ahmed Mushtaque Raza Chowdhury, professor of population and family health at Columbia University and advisor to the James P. Grant School of Public Health at BRAC University.
Speakers included Ahmed Jojan Nandonic and Asibul Islam Anik of the Sajida Foundation, Tanveer Ahmed, fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, UK; Magen Mutefa from the University of Botswana; Shamini Prathapan from Sri Jayawardenepura University, Sri Lanka; Indranil Mukhopadhyay from the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy, India.
They presented their research findings on the challenges of COVID-19 in LMICs from the perspective of patients, healthcare providers, and family members, and discussed the mental and physical health impact during and after the pandemic. They also displayed findings on LMIC responses to the pandemic and shared lessons to be learned from the experience of a Bangladeshi NGO.
