Monnujan was a minister of state from 2009 to 2014. She was the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Ministry of Labor and Employment from 2014 to 2018 and again became Minister of State in the 11th Parliament.
As soon as AL general secretary Obaidul Qadir revealed the list of party’s selected candidates, supporters of the state minister took to the streets in Railgate area in protest.
They blocked the Khulna-Jashore highway and burnt tires on the road. Another group of Monnujan’s supporters protested at BL College area on Khulna-Jashore.
Daulatpur police station in-charge Kamal Hussain told Prothom Alo that the road was blocked for some time. Later the police opened the road.
