What did the UN say?

According to UNHCR, about 186,000 people have crossed into Europe via the Mediterranean Sea between January and September 24 this year.

Of these, 130,000 people have come to Italy, which represents an increase of 83 percent compared to the previous year. Others landed in Greece, Spain, Cyprus and Malta.

As far as the origin of the migrants is concerned, 102,000 came from Tunisia and another 45,000 crossed the Mediterranean Sea from Libya.
