US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has said that concerns over national elections in Bangladesh do not mean that the US has no responsibility to work with Bangladesh.
He said this in response to a journalist’s question during the regular briefing of the State Department on Thursday.
A journalist at the press briefing asked the State Department spokesperson, “As I noted in your last press note on Bangladesh, the United States is interested in working with Bangladesh in a variety of security areas. These areas include counter-terrorism, border security, cyber security, maritime security and regional stability. How is it possible to work with the new government in Bangladesh in the larger context without welcoming the Prime Minister?”
