Held at the National Parade Square in the city, contingents from the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force as well as freedom fighters, para-military forces and law enforcement agencies participated in the parade.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the parade at the National Parade Ground on the occasion of Victory Day today.
The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, took the salute and inspected the parade on the celebration of Victory Day.
The parade was organized and conducted by the 9th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army under the supervision of the Armed Forces Division on the instructions of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
President Hamid, along with Parade Commander Major General Mohd Shaheenul Haque and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 9th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Savar Sector, inspected the parade and took the salute, riding in an open jeep. The Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Coast Guard, Ansar, Paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) participated in the parade.
Family members of brave freedom fighters and martyrs were felicitated at city, upazila and district level.
