Senior Judicial Magistrate Rumana Akhtar took cognizance of the complaint and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police to investigate the matter. CID investigated and analyzed the mobile numbers used in the fraud.
The CID found that the numbers were registered in the names of two teachers, a beggar, a farmer and a poor widow in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur. He has been asked to appear at Shariatpur CID office.
One of them – Jannatul Firdous, a 30-year-old teacher at Basudevpur Government Primary School – told Prothom Alo that she, like some others, had bought a mobile SIM card in August last year when three youths came to the area to sell SIM cards. A particular telecom operator completely free of charge.
