Zahid Hussain thought that he was tortured because of his closeness with Saqib Hussain and visiting his room at any time, while Saqib Hussain thought that Saju Das was made a “monitor” in the classroom. Saqib said that Saju Das was “furious”.
In his written complaint, Saqib said that in 2021 when the allegation of hurting religious sentiments was leveled against Sourav Debnath, he protested like many others. Also, he used to behave like a leader in the class. That’s why he was thrashed.
Zahid mentioned in the complaint that Sourav and Maheen went to the ICU, where he is undergoing treatment, on Sunday and threatened to send him from the ICU to the “mortuary”.
Both the victims also demanded the return of their mobile phones. However, the political identity of the perpetrators was not mentioned in the complaints. The complaints were signed by Zahid and Saqib and their guardians.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, CMCH Vice Principal Mohammad Hafeezul Islam said that the parents of both the students have submitted a written complaint to the principal. He mentioned the names of the accused, the detailed incident and the reason for the same. The issue will be discussed and action will be taken as per the discussion.
Regarding the harassment, BCL’s Avijit Das told Pratham Aalo, “They (torture victims) are involved in the politics of the student camp, teach on retina. Many evidences have been found in their mobile phones. We have deposited them at appropriate places.” And, we didn’t beat them that much. They’re acting too much.
