Last Saturday, a tragic incident took place at Sitakund in Chattogram, where a lorry carrying a heavy container weighing 35 tonnes fell on a moving private car. Now it cannot be kept in the category of mere accident. Such incidents have become worryingly frequent. In May last year, a container carrying goods fell on a rickshaw after the rope of the lorry broke in Patenga Steel Mill Bazaar area of Chattogram city, killing two passengers. These incidents raise serious concerns about road safety and the risk faced by people while travelling.

Recently the death of journalist Manzoor Hussain Milan shocked everyone. He was hit by a truck on the Kapasia-Wakudi road in Kotbajaliya village of Kapasia sub-district of Ghazipur. According to a report by Prothom Alo, the journalist was riding a motorcycle when the truck hit him, causing him to fall on the side of the road.

Thereafter, he spoke to the truck driver about the incident, which led to a heated argument between them. Shockingly, the driver deliberately ran the truck over the journalist, leading to his untimely death. The family believes it was a premeditated murder.

We immediately demand an impartial investigation into this tragic incident and demand exemplary punishment for the person responsible.
