The country's economy now faces three major challenges – uncontrolled inflation, rising risky debt and slow pace of the economy.

The Citizens Forum has identified these three problems in implementing the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and made several recommendations to address these challenges.

Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and Citizens Platform jointly organized a discussion on 'New government, national budget and expectations of the people' at a hotel in the capital on Sunday.

Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow of CPD and convener of Citizens Platform, presented the keynote address at the event.

The program also revealed the results of a survey on people's expectations on the national budget. This shows that people expect the government to give priority to the three sectors of employment, education and social security and increase the budget for these sectors. Other sectors that should be prioritized include social inclusion, skill development, value addition, agriculture, women empowerment, health, infrastructure, housing and rehabilitation and climate change.

The survey was conducted on about 2,249 people online and on social media.
