Oishi Rahman accused of killing her own parents last month, to be assessed by doctors of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital, BSMMU. A vacation bench of High Court ordered this yesterday. The court said Oishi’s mental state before and after the killing have to be assessed by the doctors. Oishi will also receive counseling from doctors, if required.
The court issued the order after hearing a writ petition on public interest. Oishi Rahman is alleged to kill her parents. She admitted it in a statement before magistrate. But later she withdrew the statement saying that she was forced to say so. She was threatened in police custody.
The writ petition also sought order on Oishi’s house help, who is undoubtedly a minor. But the court issued no order in this regard. Oishi’s father was an inspector of police.
It is reported that Oishi was a drug addict. According to experts, drug addicts need special mental support and sudden withdrawal from drug is prohibited. Sometimes counseling is needed for the addicts.
