5 men beaten to death in city

Five people were beaten to death and another was injured being suspected as robbers. They had been captured by a mob at Matuail in Dhaka early Friday. The identities of the deceased could not be immediately established.
According to police security guards challenged a group of 10 to 15 on Khanka Sharif Road in the place about 3:30am.
Residents of the area then captured seven of the group members and beat them up. Two of them died on the spot.
The police and the Rapid Action Battalion later rescued the five people and sent four of them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Three died in the hospital on Friday morning. The other man, Nazrul Islam, a resident of Alamdanga in Faridpur, was being treated in hospital in a critical condition.
Local people said the men were planning to commit a robbery in the area but no firearms were seized from them. The police said they had seized some sharp weapons from the people.

The bodies of the two killed on the spot were sent to the Mitford Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The bodies of the three who died in hospital were sent to the DMCH morgue for post-mortem.
