A man was electrocuted to death while trying to save his father from electrocution while tying the national flag to a pole in Bogura on Vijay Diwas.
The father, Mahfuzur Rahman, was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the accident in Dighalkandi village of Sariyakandi Upazila around 6:30 am on Friday.
Khokon Chandra Das, a sub-inspector at the Sariyakandi police station, said the muezzin of the Dighalkandi Jama Masjid climbed onto the roof of the mosque to tie the flag, but he slipped and fell on an electric wire.
Khokon said Mahfuzur’s 27-year-old son Shafi Rehman tried to save his father, but Shafi died on the spot.
Shafi’s body was handed over to his family, while Mahfuzar was sent to the hospital in a critical condition, he said.
